OVERVIEW
Why should you choose Powerbrake R-Line off road race pads?
Powerbrake R-Line race pads are manufactured for us by the world’s leading off road race pad manufacturer. The specific compounds have been carefully selected by our engineers after over a decade of off road race experience at the highest levels. After more than a decade of extensive testing with leading factory teams and some of the world’s best drivers, we have selected three off road race compounds that we know will offer exceptional performance over the widest range of off road race conditions (including: gravel, sand, mud and water-crossings).
How many different pad compounds are there in the Powerbrake range?
We have carefully selected just 3 x off road race pad compounds. These 3 x compounds will cater to any level of off road racing, from mid-pack ‘gentleman racers’ to the top factory teams competing in the FIA Cross Country World Cup, Dakar Rally or any regional or national off road race series. By keeping the pad compound options simple our customers are able to easily identify the pad compound that will best suite their application. We have extensive experience over many years with each of the three proven materials in our range and can recommend them with utmost confidence.
What pad profiles can you supply your R-Line race pads in?
Naturally we stock all our race pads in the pad profiles that our own R-Line race calipers. We can also quote on supplying our race pads in other pad profiles and do this regularly for our race customers who may have some older race calipers in their race car fleets or may be racing vehicles that are still equipped with OEM brake calipers. Contact our sales team to discuss any race pad requirements that you may have.
DETAILS
Powerbrake PB13 Race Compound
We recommend our PB13 pad compound for any off road race car that is based on a factory chassis and is still running OE actuation (master cylinder, booster etc). We also recommend this pad compound for ‘gentleman racers’ where disc temperatures are fairly moderate. PB13 is an extremely versatile material with very good initial bite and excellent modulation characteristics. The material exhibits a slightly rising torque curve during a single brake application at operating temperature. The material beds-in easily and its performance remains consistent over a wide variety of operating conditions (including: gravel, sand, mud and water crossings). Pad life is very good and the material is kind to discs.
Powerbrake PB15 race compound
We supply our PB15 pad compound to leading factory FIA Cross Country and Dakar Rally teams. Our PB15 material has a higher initial ‘bite’ than our PB13 material. Overall friction co-efficient is about 15% higher than PB13 throughout the brake application. The material exhibits a slightly rising torque curve during a single brake application at operating temperature. After many years of testing with leading Dakar teams, we have found our PB15 material to offer the most stable performance across a wide range of off road race conditions (including: gravel, sand, mud and water crossings). The material is easy to bed-in and pad life is extremely good if this material is run at the correct operating temperature. Disc life is very good if the pads are run at the correct operating temps. If high disc wear is experienced, then operating temps are likely too low and our PB13 compound should be used instead.
Powerbrake PB25 compound
Our PB25 compound offers the highest friction levels in our off road race pad range. It is a good choice for teams / drivers that are looking to reduce brake pedal effort. The material has a very strong initial ‘bite’ and delivers very high friction co-efficient through the brake application. The material is easy to bed-in and both disc and pad life are very good if this material is run at the correct operating temperature. This material has a consistent following among certain off road race car builders that are looking for a very high-friction race pad.
